Two-Day Natural Building Workshop with Sage Stoneman

We are honored to host Artist-in-Residence Sage Stoneman, one of our country’s leading natural builders, as he facilitates a two-day natural building workshop that will provide you with:

  • A comprehensive introduction to building with clay, sand, straw, wood, stone, and water in different ratios for different outcomes. Understanding how these materials behave to best inform your design decisions.
  • New insights into human shelter and a deep understanding of the important role natural building can play in these unpredictable climatic times.
  • An understanding of how a building’s foundation, frame, roof, and walls fit together in design and construction.
  • Ecological mindset: how to approach design/construction through the lens of land stewardship. Our human developments can serve as offerings, rather than detriments, to our natural environment!
  • Connection with nature, conscious movement, and shared purpose with your family or new friends… soil bacteria (mycobacterium vaccae) has been shown to improve mental health.

This experience is appropriate for experienced builders/designers in conventional construction as well as people with no prior building experience. Kids are not only welcomed but encouraged to join in!
